A keepsake from Japan - introducing our exclusive Vintage Kimono Obi bag collection, handcrafted by the talented 85-year-young artisan, Fujiko, in Tokyo. Each handbag is a unique work of art, meticulously made from authentic vintage Kimono obi— the exquisitely embroidered sash used to tie and hold the kimono in place.
The obi is the most decorated element of the kimono, often adorned with intricate handwoven embroidery. Fujiko carefully repurposes these richly detailed, 100% silk obis into stunning handbags, ensuring that every piece retains its original beauty and cultural significance. Every component of the handbag, from the body to the handle, is crafted from silk, making each bag as unique as the kimono it once graced.
Due to the rarity and uniqueness of each obi, only 3 to 4 handbags can be made from a single sash, ensuring that no more than 4 bags will ever share the same pattern.
Handmade with love, each bag reflects Fujiko's passion for her craft and her deep respect for the kimono, making it a perfect blend of history and art.
