The Creatives

We are seriously picky about who we choose to work with. For us, we want partnerships with designers and brands that put communities and the planet first, who aren’t afraid of pushing design boundaries and that create quality garments and products that transcend seasonal trends.

All the products we stock are made to order especially for us and our community. The pieces are exclusive, exceptionally made and all have a personality of their own.

Ode to Odd

A brand which has its roots in the eccentric and real and plays in between softness and structure, their clothes are an exploration of contemporary aesthetics coupled with premium Indian textiles and handiwork. Their work is truely an ode to everything bizarre and beautiful in the world and represents a sense of quiet luxury and craftsmanship that honours perfect imperfections.

Every piece is crafted from high quality natural and mostly handwoven fabrics which are made by old generations of weavers who have traditional family run businesses in the villages of India. All the pieces are hand dyed and some even carry imperfections which is a characteristic of the craftsmanship. Every detail including the buttons are made from natural materials such as recycled brass, horn and wood by artisans in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Every single piece from inception of design to final production is carried out in Ode to Odd’s studio with a slow production methodology and using minimum waste during production.

NORBLACK NORWHITE

NORBLACK NORWHITE's philosophies develop from paying respect to the past, questioning the present and creating for the future. Raised in Toronto, Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar moved to India in 2009 to explore their Indian roots. Traveling across the country they were exposed to the many disappearing art forms and artisan communities. NBNW was born out of a desire to re-interpret these ancient practices of textile design, while bringing together their worlds by mashing up their love for Michael Jackson, 90's R n B and all things old and gold.

Having been featured in Wallpaper*, Asos, Fader, Fashion Television, I-D Magazine, Vogue India and Vogue Italy, they were also selected by Frida Gianinni (Ex - Creative Director of Gucci) as her favourite young designers from India for the Grazia Young Fashion Awards in 2012.

Exploring the grey space, NBNW is partly an anthropological experiment, part art and part fashion.
