Fashion Revolution Week 2020

Created in remembrance of all those that lost their lives in the Rana Plaza factory collapse in 2013, Fashion Revolution Week is back again this year aiming to raise awareness of how fashion can be done better. With COVID-19 dramatically impacting the global fashion industry, there has never been a better time to stop and think about manufacturing and the ways we can reform the industry to make it fairer and more equitable for all those involved, as well as kinder to the planet we all call home.

Overview

Join me, Esha Ahmed, and the owners of a number of the UK's most loved independent shops that have a focus on sustainability in a Zoom Panel discussion on the effect of COVID on garment workers, designers, small business owners and consumers. The talk will also explore the benefits of more circular fashion models and the potential for future legislation regarding fashion production, consumption and waste in response to our current global situation.

This panel aims to serve as a gateway for you to have discussions with the people who design, make, and sell your clothes as well as other members of the fashion industry and those who advocate for sustainability. It will give you an opportunity to learn and think critically about and hopefully advocate for a fashion industry that is better for everyone involved as well as the planet. You will get a glimpse into an industry that many of us participate in, consciously or not, and the future of what it takes and means to be sustainable in fashion in an ever changing world.
