This unisex jumper is a tribute to the 16,912 cotton farmers who under extreme pressure, took their own lives in the Vidarbha region of India because of unsustainable modern cotton farming methods. In total, 15 hundred thousand cotton farms have been destroyed in this time frame, with the vulnerable cotton farmer being caught in the web of capitalistic growth where they are just pawns for large corporations.
Rias Jaipur who make this jumper is committed to supporting local indigenous farming practices and so use Vidarbha cotton which is the desi (local) variety cultivated in this region, helping to sustain local farmers livelihoods and indigenous cotton.
The jumper comes with a scannable QR Code that can be used to educate ourselves and those around us about cotton farming issues.
